Traveling with Qantas

Qantas is Australia's flag carrier and operates from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth as its main gateways. The airline is a founding member of the oneworld alliance. In 2026, Qantas operates its full A380 fleet on ultra-long-haul routes, with Melbourne to Dallas Fort Worth (17h40m, three times weekly on 787-9) among the longest nonstop services currently operating. The airline also runs Sydney to Dallas, Sydney to Los Angeles and Sydney to San Francisco.

Qantas is in the process of launching Project Sunrise — nonstop flights from Sydney to London and Sydney to New York using Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. The Sydney to London Sunrise service was confirmed for 2026.

Qantas routes to the US

Qantas currently operates nonstop between Australia and the US on routes including Sydney to Dallas Fort Worth, Sydney to Los Angeles, Sydney to San Francisco and Melbourne to Dallas Fort Worth. The Dallas routes operate under a joint venture with American Airlines, with 62% of Melbourne-Dallas travelers connecting onward via American.

The Project Sunrise Sydney-London service, when fully operational, will offer a one-stop alternative to Australia-US via London for some travelers — relevant for itinerary planning purposes.

Route information reflects the published network for Qantas as of September 2026 and can change; check the airline directly for current schedules.
